Video: Make Whip Cream with Nitrous Oxide Whip Cream Chargers

Tips

  • Always read and follow the manufacturer's instructions for your dispenser.

  • All recipes on our site are prepared in a 1/2 litre whip cream dispenser and use one nitrous oxide charger. If you have a larger or smaller dispenser, increase or decrease recipes accordingly. For example, a one quart dispenser will require twice the amount of ingredients for a given recipe and two whipped cream chargers. A 1/4 litre dispenser will use half the ingredients and a single whip cream charger (since it is impossible to only use half of one cream charger).

  • Thoroughly clean and dry your whip cream dispenser after use. Most dispensers are NOT dishwasher-safe and should be cleaned by hand. When properly cared for, your whip cream dispenser will provide you with many years of use.

  • For best results, use cold ingredients in your dispenser. Always dispense with the dispenser tip pointed straight down.

  • You can use both "regular" and "heavy" whipping cream in your whip cream dispenser, however, "regular" whipping cream seems to produce the best results.

  • Do not use granulated "table" sugar in your dispenser as it tends to clog the dispenser and can impair its use. Instead, use powdered sugar or "confectioners" sugar. Other sweeteners also work well, Splenda, NutraSweet, and Agave are great substitutes.

  • If you are having difficulty keeping the whipped cream firm or "stable", it is possible to add cooking gelatin to your recipe. The challenge is keeping the cream cold while heating the gelatin in order to dissolve it. Soften the gelatin by sprinkling it into cold water and then slowly heating the water/gelatin mixture just enough to dissolve.

  • Experiment! There are tons of wonderful foods and desserts that you can make with your whip cream dispenser!
